Dr. Sheryl Manning

I grew up in a very close knit, loving family and was fortunate to be raised by a mother who embodied resiliency. My mother became a double amputee at the age of forty-four years old but refused to allow life’s challenges to rob her of joy and purpose. She continued to care for my father, my siblings and myself despite the obstacles she faced. I was amazed at her strength and resilience. I once asked her how she was able to maintain such a positive and joyful spirit - her response to me was, “acceptance is the most difficult part of any challenging situation, but once you accept it, you can live a fulfilling and joyful life." After having this lived experience of resilience followed by years of training in traditional Psychiatry, and mind-body whole person modalities, I bring an authentic, accessible and compassionate approach to wellness coaching.

My mission in essence is to assist you in cultivating and nurturing habits/techniques that help to regulate your nervous systems “on-demand” in the moments when you need it most as well as in daily practice. In so doing you will have access to the part of you that allows you to make better decisions regarding your health, your relationships and all aspects of your life.

Our mind-bodies are awesome dynamic living systems with wisdom that can heal itself if we give it the right conditions. One of the most important conditions is a regulated nervous system
which provides us access to the deeper wisdom from the universe on how to live a purposeful, joyful life that benefits ourselves and others.

There is no separation between our mind and bodies; the mind-body functions as a dynamic living unit even though Western Medicine makes this arbitrary distinction.

Angie’s Legacy

August 7, 1963 - August 18,2021

Angie is my beloved sister who embodied strength, resiliency and joy. She is the inspiration for my Integrative Wellness Coaching.

Life presented her with several challenges that she could have allowed to color her life in sadness, anger and bitterness. However, she chose to take those lemons and make the sweetest lemonade possible. She brought joy and laughter to any space she entered. She was such an inspiration that her primary care physician asked her to speak to medical students at the University Of Maryland about the experience of being a venerable ill and frightened patient.

The Vascular Team who took care of her before during and after her amputation, would call her to visit and talk to new amputee patients so that she could provide encouragement and support.
